Congress recently redesignated Liberia under the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) program. Therefore, all eligible Liberians will be able to apply for TPS and receive a work permit. In the past, Congress only allowed Liberians who already had TPS to renew their work permits. It did not permit new applicants to file for TPS. This has now changed. Liberians who have been continuously present in the United States since August 25, 2004 and who have continuously resided in the United States since October 1, 2002 may be eligible for TPS. The registration period is open until February 21, 2005, and TPS is now available through October 1, 2005.
Call our office for a free consultation so that we may assist you with filing your application for TPS. If you allow the registration deadline to come and go without filing, you may not get another chance to file for TPS. You may also not get another chance to obtain a work permit and be allowed to lawfully work in the United States.
